GLOSSARY

Plausibility screen

A pass over every value column, prices and rates and amounts and equally the quantity, seat, and unit columns, comparing each value against its group's typical value in both directions. A total that ties to the cent can still be a hundred times wrong, because a slipped value multiplies through every sum consistently.

Principle 11 · Reconciliation proves arithmetic, not plausibility

Where does Plausibility screen come from?

Principle 11 of the Kymira doctrine, Reconciliation proves arithmetic, not plausibility. Plausibility screen is the name the doctrine gives to what that principle requires in practice.

What failure is Plausibility screen named after?

The 100x slip that ties perfectly. A price entered as 5900.00 instead of 59.00 multiplies through every subtotal consistently, so every reconciliation passes while the headline triples.

What does it look like on a real file?

A price entered as 5900.00 where the plan's typical is 59.00 multiplies through every subtotal and reconciles perfectly.

Not for

Not a fraud detector. The screen finds values unlike their neighbours; a wrong value that resembles its group passes it.
